Summertime

Indeed summer has arrived and with it I am surrounded by green pastures, fields of wheat, beautiful trees displaying their finest and a myriad of birdlife!! So much inspiration!! My hand dyed silks now have the limelight with fine wisps of merino embellishment. Have a look at my website for new designs in light wraps, vests and dresses. Also keep an eye on my facebook page for regular updates on venues as well as my latest pieces. 'tis the season to be jolly' . . . . . . enjoy the festive times ahead in the lead up to Christmas and remember a handmade original gift is one to be cherished!!

Hi all. It has been a while since I posted but thought the launch of my new website was as good a time as any. I now reside in the Central West district, having opted for a 'tree change'. Life is wonderful and my environment very inspiring. Thank you for the wonderful support I received last week at the Mind Body Spirit Festival in Darling Harbour. There were many people with lovely comments. It is always a delight to see my creations being purchased by those that really do appreciate them. My head is spinning with ideas and my fingers itching to begin preparing for The Old Bus Depot in Kingston, Canberra on Sunday 17th July where it will be a celebration of fibre. Don't forget to check out my outlets page if you would like to see some pieces in store or have a browse through my latest pics on the website. Cheers till next time.

Hi all, it has been a while!!! I can not believe since I last posted here, I have sold house and purchased, ready to move to become a 'tree changer'!!! I am off to Cudal (near Orange) to set up camp on a 12 acre property residing in a 100 year old home. I can not wait to get my hands dirty refurbing the home and establishing gorgeous gardens on the surrounding land. After that, animals are on the agenda!! Chooks (for the eggs) as well as alpacas and angora goats, for the fleece!! The boys of course are counting on a puppy and kitten to go with the existing clan of 2 guinea pigs, one small dog and 2 goldfish!!

Life is indeed wonderful!!!!!!! Dubbo 'Craftalive' was informative and interesting, Canberra Handmade predictably wonderful and many forthcoming ventures are unfolding .......

I look forward to 'Mind, Body, Spirit" at Darling Harbour in late May. I can't wait to meet new prospects in the Central West, and anticipate fabulous and exciting continuing relationships with Two Birds Gallery at Towoon Bay, The Pear House at Holgate and Gosford Regional Gallery all here on the fabulous Central Coast!!!

In the Spotlight

In the Spotlight - Tuesday 16th November, 2010
With only 5 more sleeps until our Christmas Market we thought we would share with you the winner of our best dressed stand award from our launch market. So this week In the Spotlight is Carolyn Kohler Collection.

Carolyn Kohler Collection make stunning wearable art. With a background in fashion and a passion for colour, texture and design it was a natural progression for Carolyn to create wearable art pieces. Mother nature, in particular flowers, provide a never ending source of inspiration for her designs.

Many years in the fashion industry taught Carolyn that women desire natural fibres against their skin. Sadly, recent years have seen a huge increase in the use of synthetic fabrics and she is happy to support the move back to natural fibres.

Carolyn’s designs are all original, handcrafted pieces that combine Australian merino with silk using traditional nuno felting techniques.

All embellishments used are also natural fibres and include mohair, alpaca, hemp and cotton as well as beading in timber, coconut and glass. Carolyn hand dyes all her fleece and silk making each piece completely unique. No two are the same.

The wraps come with brooches that can be worn in various ways to suit the occasion or the individual style of the wearer.

You will see Carolyn Kohler Collection again at our Christmas market this Sunday from 10am – 2pm. And if you are planning a visit to her stand make sure your print off her market day discount coupon from our website.

I have just returned from another visit to Canberra and the Old Bus Depot Markets. They really are a fabulous venue and I look forward to returning there on the 11th and 12th of December for a big weekend of pre Christmas selling!!
The weekend before that I shall be at the Handmade Market in Canberra on 4th December and the Kanberra Winery for another huge day (11am - 7pm) of fun and festivity.
In the meantime, the Central Coast Handmade Market is on Sunday 21st November at Erina High School so make sure you come along and join me! I will have lots of summer scarves and wraps for all those social occassions on our calendars at that time of year.

Handmade Craft Market In true democratic style we had a hung vote for our best dress stand awards. So we called in 3 independent voters to decide on the winner and we have come to a decision. Everyone's stands were amazing and I can't wait to see the market in November. But without further adieu the winner is.....................CarolynKohler Collection. Congratulations Carolyn. I'd also like to give honorable mentions to Where the Wild Things Grow and Quirky Kidswho were also favourites at our launch market.

Very exciting!!
